Here is a combination of first day class and impact on life. My first day of class was with Grant Gilmore in Contracts. The case was Boston Ice Company v. Potter in which I made some astonishingly off-the-point comments concerning the technology of ice delivery in the early part of the 20th century. Just last week I had the opportunity to cite the case in an opinion (Reisenfeld v. Network Group, __ F.3d__2002 WL 63492 (6th Cir. 2002). This certainly wasn’t the first or, I hope the last, time that my Chicago legal training has stood me in good stead. Of course, the greatest long term impact the law school had was bringing me together with my wife, Judy.
